harry potter review continued

This is the continuation of my review of the newest Harry Potter movie. If you haven't already, I suggest reading the first Harry Potter post before this one. As I said before, there are spoilers.

There was one thing I left out in the other post that I didn't like, something that they had left out. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione go to visit Xenophilius Lovegood, he is supposed to mention that Luna is out in the garden. However in the movie, they don't have him do this, and its altogether too suspicious to begin with. In the book its much more dramatic: Luna seems to be taking a very long time in the garden, which strikes both the trio and the reader as odd, and then when they go up to her room, they notice the thick layer of dust and lack of clothing. When they go back downstairs, they find Lovegood's newest Quibbler edition, with "Undesirable Number 1" on its front cover, a completely wtf moment when they realize that he had sent an owl to tell the Death Eaters. I just thought it wasn't a surprise at all in the movie because of the creepiness from the beginning. Also, I had wanted to see Luna's pictures of everyone, because I thought it was very touching.

Now for the things I liked/loved about the movie. There were two specific changes that they made that I actually really liked. The first was Hedwig. Hedwig's death was just so heartbreaking, and I think it made it so much better how in the movie she wasn't helpless in her cage, she had been flying out of it, alongside Harry, and had tried to help him by attacking one of the Death Eaters. Of course the Death Eater just sent a quick spell her way and she was gone, but I actually really loved how they had made her help Harry in her final hour. Funny how Hedwig's death drove me to tears just as easily as Dobby's. The second change they made that I liked was in the very beginning of the movie, where they actually showed Hermione putting the memory charm on her parents. It was definitely a tear-jerker, especially when Hermione disappeared from all of the pictures in the house.

Other things I liked about the movie were mostly the things that they kept the same. All of the moving around was pretty realistic, especially how they showed the passage of time, which reinforces the fact that Ron and Hermione were just waiting for something to happen, and how none of them really knew what to do. The scene where Harry dove into the lake to retrieve Gryffindor's sword was almost exactly how I pictured it, although the Horcrux "fighting back" was a whole lot more dramatic than I personally had pictured. Even the scene when Ron got splinched was somewhat how I had pictured it, and speaking of Ron, the sexual tension between Ron and Hermione was ridiculous (in a very good way). Through the whole movie I was just waiting for them to stop everything and start making out, though I had to remind myself that that particular scene will happen towards the end of the next movie. I also loved how they showed a bit of what would be happening at Hogwarts when the Death Eaters stopped the train, especially when Neville mouthed off to them, and I wish that I could remember the line or find it on youtube, but I can't. Either way, it was awesome.

Basically it was a really good movie. Of course they had to take out some scenes and change some things, but for once the scenes they took out weren't THAT overwhelmingly important, and the things they changed actually made the movie better. It could not have been exactly like the book, but for the things they kept the same, I think they did an extremely good job. I think I might actually want it on DVD now haha. So go see it cuz its awesome!!!!!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1!!!!

So yesterday, after a very long time of waiting, I finally got around to seeing the newest Harry Potter movie, and with great joy I tell you all that it was great! Honestly, it was probably one of the best since the first two. Prior to this movie, I always had the basic belief that after the second movie, the movies got progressively worse, and I am very glad to say, that the seventh movie broke this trend. It definitely wasn't exactly how I had imagined it, and they did alter a few things, but other than that, it stuck to the book better than any of the others, except maybe the first or the second.

Right now I'm going to go over a few things that I liked/did not like about the movie, specifically the scenes I wish they hadn't taken out, the changes that I actually did like, and just other random things I may have liked and disliked. Therefore, there are likely to be spoilers for people who either read the books but haven't seen the movie, and don't want to know what changes have been made, or those who have not read the books and have not seen the movie, so this stuff would REALLY spoil everything. If you are either of these people, I would suggest not reading any further, at least until you've seen the movie.

Okay so first off is things that I did not like, which basically is scenes they took out. I noticed that they took out three scenes that kind of bothered me. The first was in the beginning of the book, when the Durselys are leaving, and Harry and Dudley share a sort of moment. I had totally loved this scene in the book just because it made Dudley seem like not such a jerk after all! The whole thing was kind of touching, actually, and they took it out! :( The second scene that they took out was when they were in the dungeon or whatever at Malfoy Manor. Dobby had just appeared in the dungeon, so Peter Pettigrew was sent to investigate, since Dobby's apparating had made a loud crack. Harry and Ron immediately jump on Pettigrew, but Pettigrew is able to grab Harry's throat and begins to choke him. Harry reminds Pettrigrew that he once saved his life, causing Pettigrew to hesitate. This hesitation is seen as mercy by the silvery hand Pettigrew was granted by his master, Voldemort, so the hand strangles Pettigrew and kills him. In the movie none of this even happened, so those who haven't read the books don't know that Pettigrew is supposed to be dead. The final scene that I was upset that they left out was also in Malfoy Manor. When Bellatrix and etc. call up Griphook to deem if the sword is fake, in the book, Harry begs Griphook to tell them that the sword is a fake, even though they know it is not. This sets up what will happen later on in the book, and would have set up what will happen in the next movie, when Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Griphook rob a Gringotts vault.

This review seems to be taking much longer than I thought it would so I've decided I'll include the rest, which is mostly the good stuff, in another post, so goodbye for now. :)

tell me these people dont resemble each other!

Every time I see any of these three actresses, for some reason, I just think of the other two. Now these three pictures aren't exactly good for that because they happen to all have different color hair! Which is annoying and kind of goes against what I'm trying to say! They all have these round faces...or maybe its just how they wear their hair. But come on, isn't there something about them? I mean, I know they don't look exactly alike, but Mila Kunis (right) and Lucy Hale (middle) kind of have the same wide eyes. And Selena Gomez (left) and Lucy Hale kind of have the same shaped face!

Come on! You know you can see it!

the math rant

I've decided that Calculus is the most pointless subject in the history of the universe. When am I ever going to use derivatives in my life? I guess if you're a physicist, maybe then you will, because I can't think of any other real life application for the calculus I'm doing in school right now! Like not even one! It's so pointless and stupid, and the ONLY reason I took AP Calculus was because I was told it was something good colleges just expected you have. I guess I didn't expect that I would have a terrible teacher that contradicts himself and makes absolutely no sense! And then when he gives us quizzes, he puts stuff on the quizzes that he never taught us, so we tell him when we get the quizzes back and we all fail, he doesn't do anything about it! Sometimes I just wish that math didn't exist! Grrr! Okay rant over.

couplesss

Here is my list of the top ten cutest couples in the movies and tv.

Will and Elizabeth from Pirates of the Caribbean, played by Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly. My all time favorite couple from my all time favorite movies! :) Will spent so much time loving Elizabeth from afar, and he shows how much he cares about her by going off to rescue her, even when no one else has the guts to. And then at the end of the third, Elizabeth is there waiting for him after those ten years. It's just great :)

Arwen and Aragorn from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Played by Liv Tyler and Viggo Mortensen. There's just something so cool about elves haha. Plus the whole elf-human relationship is much cooler than the vampire-human thing.

Aladdin and Jasmine from the Disney movie Aladdin. Sorry just had to have the best animated couple in there haha. The song A Whole New World just did it for me :)

Emma Woodhouse and Mr. Knightley from the movie Emma, based on the novel by Jane Austen. Emma played by Gwyneth Paltrow and Mr. Knightley played by Jeremy Northam. Mr. Knightley has got to be the most patient man on the earth, and Emma one of the most clueless...The scene where Mr. Knightley proposes is just the sweetest scenes I have ever seen.

Jamal and Latika from Slumdog Millionaire played by Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. If you've seen the movie, you know that Jamal loved Latika since he was a kid, and the whole time it was so good and pure.

Blair and Chuck from Gossip Girl, played by Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick. This picture is from what is definitely the best scene in the entire series. Its the last scene in the last episode of the second season, and its when Chuck finally tells Blair he loves her. And those bags she's holding...they're all of these presents he bought her, because he basically travelled around Europe to buy all of her favorite things!

Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. Keira Knightly makes an appearance again on my list with Matthew Macfayden. Jane Austen sure knows how to write adorable couples!

Adrianna and Navid from 90210. Adrianna played by Jessica Lowndes and Navid by Michael Steger. I just love how Navid always sticks by her no matter what happens. Adrianna goes through drug problems, ends up being pregnant with another guys child, but he stays with her the whole time. And in the little 90210 world, I'm pretty sure Adrianna could do much better, but she loves him anyway :D

Elena and Stefan from the Vampire Diaries. Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley. Much more realistic couple than Twilight's Bella and Edward. They obviously really care for each other, and even though the whole vampire-human love thing has been getting old, Elena and Stefan do it better than anyone else.

Arthur and Ariadne from Inception, played by Joseph Gordon Lewitt and Ellen Paige. I am aware that they never actually got together, but I'm not the only one who thinks they should. I remember that one scene in the movie that this picture is showing, they kiss, but it was to distract the dream people and bla bla bla you had to have seen the movie...But yeah I still think they would've made the cutest couple ever!

Okay that's all for now. :)

so many beautiful people...

Here is my list of the top ten most beautiful women. If I could look like any of them, I'd be quite happy. :) Here we gooooo....

Amy Adams (TV actress who was in Enchanted and some other random stuff...and yes I replaced Zhang Ziyi with her because I had forgotten about her lol)

Vanessa Hudgens (Disney channel actress best known for High School Musical)

Keira Knightly (british actress, the most beautiful woman in the world, in my opinion, she was in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, which happen to be my favorite movies)

Katerina Graham (tv actress, plays Bonnie in the vampire diaires)

Gwyneth Paltrow (actress, I loved her in Emma)

Megan Fox (actress I suppose...it pains me to put her on the list, but oh well)

Catherine Zeta Jones (movie actress, but was also in the broadway play "A Little Night Music")

Ashley Greene (plays Alice in the twilight movies)

Ashley Benson (tv actress, plays Hannah in Pretty Little Liars)

Victoria Justice (I'm pretty sure she's an actress on Nickleodeon...but don't quote me on that haha)

So that's basically my list. By the way, I don't think I mentioned that you can feel free to comment if you agree/disagree for certain things...or if you think something/someone was left out of one of my lists that belongs there. Whatever you want, but please comment :)

the beginning of top tens :)

So I came up with this great plan, to do like a list of top tens, in my opinion. Today's top ten should be obvious if you start scrolling down...this would be the top ten best looking men in my opinion. Emphasis on MY OPINION. I'll also put their name and their claim to fame, for those who don't know already. Anyway...here we goooo :) (By the way this is in no particular order)

Rafael Nadal (Current best tennis player in the world...last winner of the US Open)

Rain (Korean pop star and star in the movie Ninja Assassin)

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portuguese soccer player and Armani model)

Lukas Podolski (German soccer player)

Joseph Gordon-Lewitt (movie actor...I liked him best in Inception)

Zac Efron (actor...I always thought of him as such a pretty-boy until I saw 17 Again)

Taylor Lautner (actor; plays Jacob in the twilight movies)

Sterling Knight (Disney channel actor)

Ian Somerhalder (TV actor...was in Lost and is in the Vampire Diaries)

Basshunter (Swedish pop star/DJ)

That was fun. Tomorrow I go with best looking women so as not to be sexist. Although it will be much less fun since I'm straight :P

halloween costumes j'adore

Here are some awesome Halloween costumes. If I could be them all I would :)

They call this one "Mythical Muse." To me it looks like a Greek goddess type of thing.

It's amazing how they can make a character as innocent as Snow White look so sexy haha.

Girl Robin Hood just seems so badass...
Belle from Beauty and the Beast :)

And the best costume of them all...this flapper costume is what I chose to be :)

By the way, all these costumes I got on http://www.partycity.com.

nu svärord är det sommar

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMaMWthgWpo
That's a trance song I loveeee. Trance is my favorite genre of music ever! I especially love Basshunter, although more of the old Basshunter than anything else. His later music, especially his newest Saturday, which I really despise, perhaps because it is reminiscent of Britney Spears. But I digress...

If you go to my youtube account http://youtube.com/user/bl0ndiigrll you can access my playlists. I don't have that many, and the majority of them are by artist...I do have a techno/trance playlist on there and a specifically Basshunter one too if anyone is interested.
So as I might have mentioned before, my friend Lisa is interested in photography, so we had a photoshoot, and now, as promised, I'm posting some of my favorites.

HEY! There used to be pictures here but I decided to take them down. If you wanna see them and you actually know me, they're on my facebook.

(By the way since I love soccer so much I thought I might add that I was extremely disappointed in Germany's loss today :( Oh well...Now hopefully the Netherlands will win the whole thing! )

dress like you're in the military?

I have had the most tiring past couple of days. My family recently renovated our summer house, so for the past week we've been basically cleaning up and putting everything back together. Needless to say, it has been exhausting.

Say what you will about the war in Iraq and the army and all of that, but one thing I've noticed in the fashion world is that the whole military look has been really in lately (even though it actually hit the runways in the fall). Especially those military shirt dresses. Right now, they have it everywhere. Which I show with the pictures below. In order, its Express, Steve Madden, Steve Madden, Marc Jacobs, and Fendi. Only question is...will people actually wear this style of clothing? Because I'm not so sure I'm digging this. Oh well. Fashion is fashion ;D

(In case anyone is interested, other companies that have military outfits and pieces are Calvin Klein, J.Crew, Burberry, and Juicy Couture)

sports and photoshoots :D

Yesterday was a very busy day. In the morning, I played tennis with my friend Jennafer. We played best 2 out of 3 sets...she killed me :D

Afterwards, I got together with my friend Lisa for a photoshoot. She had originally wanted a very fashion-y type shoot, with more of a focus on the clothes, but it ended up being more headshots, like the first photoshoot we did a couple of weeks ago. This was a little more serious than the first one, so during it, I discovered that modelling is much more difficult than I thought. Everything I did, either my face was too tense, or too pissed off... She took SOOOO many pictures, but honestly I think we'd be lucky if we got in five good shots, out of the billions she took.

I would take a picture of my outfit and post it, but I figure that's probably pointless, since eventually Lisa will sort through all of the pictures and post them on her own blog (stylerat.blogspot.com), which is also where you can find the pictures from our first photoshoot. Hopefully she'll be able to send the new ones to me quickly so I can post them here :)

Directly after Lisa left (no kidding about five minutes after she left) my friend Teresa arrived to get me and my brother and drive us to the Mets game she had invited us to. They played the Detroit Tigers, and won 5-0, which was great. Jose Reyes, who is my favorite baseball player, hit a homer, which completely made my day. It was actually a pretty exciting game, as baseball games go. To be quite honest, I tend to find them pretty boring. I am MUCH more inclined to be interested in soccer.

Oh, soccer. The world cup has got to be the best short span of time that only happens every four years, and will make me happy every single time. The official World Cup song, Wavin Flag (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMophHw6iX4&feature=popular), makes me so happy and hyper because I am one of those people that just thinks soccer is such a beautiful game, and so great, and bla bla bla, I won't bore you with all the details.

Unfortunately for me, I missed the U.S. playing Algeria yesterday, which may be a good thing, because I probably burst into tears of relief after they finally scored in the 90th minute. See, I also happen to be one of those people who wants the United States to win. I do NOT think they are a bad team, like the many people who fancy themselves soccer experts, try to insist. I remind everyone that the U.S. got to the finals of the Confederation Cup just last year. They played Brazil, and did not win, of course, because its Brazil (my all time favorite team by the way), but just the fact that they made it that far, beating Italy and Spain in the process, the winners of the previous World and Euro Cups, respectively, that makes me say, hey maybe the U.S. isn't so bad at all.

But I digress. Soccer is just an amazing sport, and the World Cup has the entire planet holding its breath, and what a better thing to do with my time then watch a game while writing this blog? Which is what I'm doing now. Slovakia is beating Italy (my least favorite team) :P

whooo first post

Okay so this is my first post therefore I have pretty much no idea what I am saying or what I should be saying or anything like that. This past weekend was pretty busy for me, so maybe I'll talk about that? Friday was my very last regents, so afterwards I hung out with my friend Rebecca. We saw Prince of Persia and got our nails done.

Prince of Persia...was a good movie. It was very action-packed, not to mention the fact that Jake Gyllenhaal is pretty cute. A lot of it reminded me of a video game...I mean I know it is based on a video game, but sometimes the slow-motion stuff was a little much. The ending surprised me. Not the very ending, but what led up to it. I didn't see it coming at ALL, although if I had thought about it, it would've been obvious. But I shouldn't say anything else about that just in case anyone plans on watching it. :) Which I do reccommend, by the way. I mean, come on. Disney plus Jerry Bruckheimer? The last time they made that combo was in Pirates of the Caribbean, right? And those happen to be my favorite movies, so, yeah. Here's the link for the trailer, if anyone is interested :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ0rIr_405c

On Saturday, I went shopping with my aunt for my birthday. My birthday is actually in April, and yes, I know its June, and so does my aunt, but unfortunately I was soooo busy with stupid school and stupid AP tests (God, why did you grant me with intelligence?) so I honestly didn't have time.

One thing anyone should know, is I LOVE summer shopping. Seriously. I love summer clothes. So much. One of the reasons is probably because I love pretty flowery clothes, and that kind of thing tends to be best during the summer months. We went shopping in the outlets near me, and I ended up buying stuff at American Eagle, Aeropostale, Juicy Couture, and Aerie. Yes, I know I sound like such a teenager with those typical stores. But I happen to loveee American Eagle and Aeropostale. American Eagle is my favorite store :D. I noticed when I went there, that they have SOOO many layering looks. Specifically though they seemed to have a lot of baggier shirts with like a tank underneath. That seemed to be the thing this weekend. Maybe it was just the store. I don't know, but I kinda liked it, actually :) So yeah the picture up there on the left is an example from their website. And right next to it is how I did it...That's actually what I wore yesterday...the shorts I've had for a while, they're from Aero...but the tank and the shirt over it I just bought.
Okay so that was my first post. And I'm sure it totally sucked, but well I've never actually had a blog before, and I guess it'll get better as time goes on? lol I hope so...
